Add Table of Contents to PDF

Browse your PDF, click to mark sections, and export a PDF with a clickable table of contents that opens in any viewer.

How to add a clickable table of contents

  1. Drop your PDF into the box above.
  2. Browse pages with the navigation controls.
  3. Click anywhere on a page to drop a bookmark at that exact spot, or use Bookmark this page for the top of the page.
  4. Rename each bookmark in the sidebar. Use the indent buttons to create nested sections.
  5. Click Export PDF with TOC. The downloaded file opens with a working, clickable outline in every PDF viewer.

Will the TOC work in other PDF viewers?

Yes. Bookmarks are written as a standards-compliant /Outlines tree in the PDF, with UTF-16 titles for full Unicode support (including Chinese, Japanese, Arabic, etc.). They appear in the bookmarks / outline panel of Adobe Acrobat, macOS Preview, Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Foxit, PDF Expert, SumatraPDF, and other compliant readers.
